Truck campers represent the next step up from tent camping. They’re convenient, relatively inexpensive, and provide you with a sense of home without being too fancy. Best of all, they can be brought along anywhere—even to places that regular campers can’t go.
Some buyers shy away from these campers, finding them a tad too rustic. The models we’ve listed here are all equipped with bathroom facilities, so there’s no need to seek out a rest stop every time nature calls. They can also be used for boondocking—that is, camping without water or sewer hookups.

Things To Consider Before Buying A Truck Camper
As with any major purchase, it’s important to gather as much information as you can before beginning your search. Here are a few factors to consider:
- Pricing—Don’t go overboard. Choose a camper that fits within your designated budget.
- Size—Do you own a vehicle that can fit a truck camper? If not, are you planning to invest in one? Make sure the vehicle you choose has a bed long enough to accommodate the camper you buy.
- Living Area—How many people will be sleeping in the camper? Will they have enough living space, or will it feel too cramped?
- Total Weight—The excess weight will do a number on your vehicle’s gas mileage. Take a look at the owner’s manual to find out what kind of a load it can safely tow.
- Storage—Do you have sufficient garage or yard space to store the camper when it’s not in use?
6 Best Small Truck Campers With Bathrooms
2020 Northwood Arctic Fox 811
Length | Height | Dry Weight | Fresh Water Tank | Black Water Tank | Sleeps |
16 ft 8 in | 10 ft | 2873 lbs | 50 gals | 23 gals | 5 |
The 2020 version of the Northwood Arctic Fox 811 is equipped with a slide-out. This enlarges the small space, giving families more room to spread out. An optional bunk fits into the slide-out, so it increases the sleeping capacity as well.
The main sleeping area is over the cab and includes plenty of wardrobe space. There’s even room for a television set. The wet bath includes a toilet and sink located in the rear of the camper. Note that the black water tank holds just 5 gallons, so it will need to be emptied regularly.
The kitchen facilities are particularly impressive, with a double sink and three-burner range. There’s also a fridge located in the slide-out area. If you have a 1-ton or large short bed rig, the Northwood Arctic Fox 811 could be a great option.
Price: $31,600
Fits: Most 1-ton and large short bed trucks
2021 Adventurer 80RB
Length | Height | Dry Weight | Fresh Water Tank | Black Water Tank | Sleeps |
15 ft 10 in | 8 ft | 1762 lbs | 11 gals | 6 gals | 4 |
For something a bit more lightweight, give the Adventurer 80RB a try. This model has a layout similar to the Arctic Fox 811, but there’s no slide-out available. However, it still makes room for a rear-facing wet bath complete with a built-in skylight.
The kitchen offers a two-burner stovetop range and sink, with a refrigerator located across the space next to the cozy dinette. The sleeping area takes up residence over the cab and includes a queen bed, a nightstand with drawer, and a wardrobe.
The dinette converts into a second sleeping area, bringing the total capacity up to 4. We think the space is a bit too snug for that many people, but if you’re using the space mainly for sleeping, that shouldn’t pose too much of an issue.
Price: $21,245
Fits: Short and long bed trucks
2021 Lance 650
Length | Height | Dry Weight | Fresh Water Tank | Black Water Tank | Sleeps |
15 ft 6 in | 8 ft 1 in | 1700 lbs | 22 gals | 16 gals | 3 |
The Lance 850 is another lightweight option, but it’s compatible only with trucks that have longer beds. The interior is gorgeously appointed, with a wraparound dinette and an abundance of natural light. If you want a unit that’s as beautiful as it is functional, the Lance 850 is worth a look.
The bathroom area includes a shower option in addition to the sink and toilet, but users should be forewarned that it’s not a separate area. The nozzle is located just above the toilet, so there’s only room for one user at a time. Still, this is a great perk for a unit this size.
The dinette and kitchen area feature marble countertops for a touch of elegance, and the bedroom includes a tiny closet for hanging clothes. The bed itself can feel a tad claustrophobic, but it’s more than adequate for two people.
Price: $25,762
Fits: Larger long bed and short bed half-ton pickups
2021 Northstar Liberty
Length | Height | Dry Weight | Fresh Water Tank | Black Water Tank | Sleeps |
14 ft 5 in | 8 ft | 1775 lbs | 20 gals | 5 gals | 3 |
The Northstar Liberty has everything a couple will need for a few days on the road. Although the company lists the sleeping capacity at 3, we wouldn’t recommend taking anyone larger than a toddler along for the ride, especially for longer trips.
Although it’s on the smaller side, the living space offers a front-facing sleeping area with twin wardrobes, along with a TV stand. Stepping down into the main living space, you’ll find a dinette with overhead storage, a second wardrobe, a sink, and a stove with a two-burner range.
The refrigerator is located just inside the door, so it’s easy to reach in and grab a cold beverage when you’re hanging around outside. The bathroom includes a shower nozzle, but no sink. Because the freshwater capacity is quite limited, we would suggest saving the shower for emergency use only.
Price: $25,820
Fits: Short bed trucks
2019 Travel Lite 770R Super Lite
Length | Height | Dry Weight | Fresh Water Tank | Black Water Tank | Sleeps |
12 ft 9 in | 7 ft 4 in | 1335 lbs | 9 gals | N/A | 3 |
The 770R Super Lite lives up to its name with a dry weight of just 1335 pounds. Despite that, it’s suitable only for larger trucks.
If you have the vehicle for it, this model has a great deal to offer. It’s one of the smallest units on our list, measuring just 12 feet 9 inches long. However, the 770R version makes room for a wet bath with shower, something that boondockers are sure to appreciate. Buyers should be aware that there’s no black water tank included, but there is a gray water tank with a 5-gallon capacity.
The sleeping area, which fits sideways over the cab, is the camper’s weakest point. It’s large enough for two people, but only if they go to bed at the exact same time. If there’s a third person on the convertible dinette, you’ll have to step over them to get to the bathroom.
Price: $12,580
Fits: Half-ton and larger trucks
2019 Lance 825
Length | Height | Dry Weight | Fresh Water Tank | Black Water Tank | Sleeps |
16 ft 3 in | 10 ft 9 in | 1837 lbs | 30 gals | 14 gals | 4 |
We hesitated before putting a second offering from Lance on our list, but the 2019 version of the 825 was too good to pass up. Like the 850, it features a lovely interior that looks more like a home than a camper. Although it’s on the pricey side, we think it’s a wonderful upscale option.
Step inside on a chilly night and grab a sweatshirt from the rear wardrobe, or pop into the bathroom without disturbing anyone. The wraparound dinette invites families and couples to gather close together and swap camping tales, and the kitchen includes a compact refrigerator and a two-burner stovetop. Best of all, the bathroom offers a shower with an actual curtain.
The sleeping area is cozy, but the configuration is better than some small truck campers. Because the dinette can be converted to a second bed, this unit can easily accommodate four people.
Price: $36,389
Fits: Short bed trucks
In Conclusion
Most small truck campers with bathrooms offer similar configurations, owing to the space constraints. As you can see from our list, however, some are better appointed than others. We hope our list includes a model that’s large enough to accommodate your family, yet small enough to suit your vehicle.
Best of luck, and happy camping!
